Whereas the Harris County Young Democrats
believe that all levels of government should be totally transparent in every way; and
Whereas open and honest ethics
is a major part of The Lone Star State; and
Whereas all state officials should be required to disclose the amount
and/or value of every gift received while serving the people of Texas.
Be it Therefore resolved that the Harris
County Young Democrats, and its members, oppose the action taken by the Texas Ethics Commission allowing state officials to
disclose monetary gifts without disclosing the amount. Furthermore, we join the growing chorus of concerned Texans asking
that the TEC reconsider and require state officials to disclose the amount of each monetary gift given to them.
